Our client is a national market leader in the fields of defence and nuclear engineering and enjoys the backing of a large international group. As a design and manufacturing specialist, the client has the capability to take an idea, develop the design, build and manufacture the product.
Main purpose of role
The Information Assurance Specialist will be a member of the Integrated Systems and Support Group Information Assurance team.
The Information Assurance team provide support to a range of Information and Communication Technology system design, integration and support projects within the Integrated Management Services Business Unit.
Key Skills and Knowledge
A broad understanding of functional computing and networking environments, including the following: Windows OS (Client and Server), Unix OS, Software applications, Web applications, System Utilities, Virtualisation, Network peripherals (Switches / Routers), Networking protocols at all layers of OSI model (specifically IP, IPSec, ARP, TCP, TLS, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, Telnet, SSL, SNMP).
Have a clear understanding of the effect system design and change has on the cost of development.
Be able to develop appropriate verification and validation testing procedures, undertake the test activities and produce subsequent test report.
Extensive experience of information assurance and security engineering in the defence environment.
Domain knowledge and experience of one or more of the following
Military Communications, Networks (WAN & LAN), Electronic Warfare Systems, Command and Control Systems, Software design, Open System Architecture Design & Integration
Degree or equivalent qualification in computing, computer science or computer security, or relevant experience.
Preference will be given to individuals actively working towards CLAS consultant and CISSP status.
Preference will be given to individuals holding a full membership of a professional body, including chartered status.
Formal qualification in a Systems Engineering discipline is desirable.
The post requires DV clearance.
Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
